If You Had One Day Left

This may sound morbid, but I think about dying a lot. And from talking to my mom friends, I know I'm not the only one. Maybe awareness of our mortality goes hand in hand with motherhood. Or maybe I watch too much Lifetime.

In any case, I was well prepared when a fellow blogger asked readers what they would do if they only had one day left to live. Read my answer at TheBump.com:

This was one of my favorite, Abby!
I have this problem as well - always have. Having kids does make it worse - I am convinced my hubby has died every time a shampoo bottle drops in the shower or he stops snoring for a split second in the middle of the night.
I think I'd leave a video tape of myself telling my kids what to do in certain situations in life. You see, I have girls, and my husband doesn't know much about female issues. The nuts and bolts type of stuff would make my last days nuts. Lists would be made, and papers would be filled with advice from beyond the grave! :0

I've been thinking about that a lot lately. I've actually tried to write a post about it a few times, but haven't been able to make the words come. Maybe I'll try again.

OMG! I'm so glad I read this. My daughter is almost 11 months old, and I've had dreams about preparing her for a future with out me at least once a month since then. I'm glad I'm not alone.

I don't know how I would be able to pack a lifetime of advice and encouragement and practical details for both my husband and daughter into just one day.
